Self-adhesive masks from the maker Montex, cut to fit the kit of the Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien fighter in 1:72 scale. In a small scale the framing of the canopy is fine and outlining it by hand easily ends in a crooked line - masks guarantee sharp edges at the first attempt and save time for the more enjoyable parts of the build.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (Swallow), given the code name Tony by the Allies, was the only Japanese fighter of the Second World War built in series with a liquid-cooled V engine - a license-developed derivative of a German V12. Its slender nose made it differ so much from the other Japanese types that the Allies at first took it for a machine of German or Italian origin. The Hien proved itself over New Guinea and in the defense of the home islands, where its pilots faced the raids of high-altitude bombers. Its elegant silhouette and varied camouflage schemes make it a rewarding modeling subject.
Degrease the canopy, transfer the pieces of the masks with tweezers and line them up carefully along the frames. Press the edges down with a toothpick, apply the paint in light layers and take the masks off shortly after it has dried. If you start with a layer of the interior color, the frames will look right when you look into the cabin as well.
This is a modeling accessory - the kit of the aircraft itself is not included in the package.
