Stencils for spraying shadows on the control surfaces of the Mitsubishi Ki-67 heavy bomber in 1:72 scale. Once the paint is laid on, flat plastic comes across as three-dimensional and the boundary of the movable parts is legible at first glance, without the surface having to be touched with a tool. The set is designed for the Hasegawa kit.
The Ki-67 was an unusual machine by Japanese standards: a twin-engine bomber that kept an agility close to smaller aircraft even with a full load. The designers gave it armor and protected tanks, which Japanese types of the earlier generation mostly went without. It was used for bombing and for torpedo attacks and became the basis for a heavily armed interceptor derivative. It came into service too late, though, and the series built were small. The name Hiryu means a flying dragon; the Allies called it Peggy.
Try the paint on a cut-off piece of sprue first, so that you know how densely it covers. After taking the stencil off, let the model rest and only then go on with the decals, so that the fresh coat is not damaged by the pressure of fingers. At the close, go over the surface with a thin coat of clear, which seals the effect and prepares the area for the decals.
