The first sheet of the series devoted to the Korean War of the years 1950 to 1953 offers markings of the tanks of the United States Marine Corps. According to the name these are the M4A3 with a 105mm howitzer and a dozer blade, the flamethrowing M4A3, a machine listed as the M4A3 Porcupine and the M26A1 Pershing.
The Sherman M4A3 served in Korea after the Second World War as well, in special conversions. The version with a 105mm howitzer provided fire support, the dozer blade made it possible to work the terrain and to force a way through barriers, and the flamethrower conversion was committed against fortified positions in the mountains. The Pershing with a 90mm gun represented a heavier complement, which could face the opponent's tanks. The combination of machines matches the line-up that Marine Corps units really used in the first years of the conflict. The terrain of the Korean Peninsula moreover markedly limited the use of tracked hardware.
The cast surfaces of Shermans are rougher, so create a smooth patch at the place of the drawing and only then transfer the insignia onto it. Position the lettering along the hull by a straight edge, so that it is not skewed against the outline of the vehicle. Hold the dried markings back slightly with a thin layer of dust, by which the transition at the edge is lost. Light lettering stands out best on a dark base, so do not overdo holding it back.
