A short-run kit of the Soviet heavy KrAZ-257B truck in 6x4 configuration by Armory in 1:72 scale. It is a multimedia kit combining plastic parts with photo-etched parts and accessories made by 3D printing and resin casting (the engine and the tires, for example). The kit lets you open the cab doors and the hood and fold down the sides of the cargo bed. Because of its character it is better suited to more experienced modelers. The exact contents of the package follow the instructions supplied.
The KrAZ-257B was a rugged and reliable heavy 6x4 truck built for demanding military and civilian transport. It entered service in the late 1960s and served for decades across the Eastern Bloc. It was powered by a durable eight-cylinder diesel engine and carried more than ten tons of cargo. The distinctive high cab and the massive cargo bed make it a striking icon of Eastern utility vehicles.
First wash the resin and 3D-printed parts to remove mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks with respiratory protection. Bond the photo-etch and the resin with super glue and the plastic parts with thin liquid cement. Apply a primer before painting. A truck suits a matter-of-fact patina — dust and mud on the chassis and the wheels with pigments, fine washes in the joints of the bed and light paint wear along the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
