This Eduard set in 1:72 scale holds precisely cut self-adhesive painting masks for a plastic model of the British four-engine Avro Lancaster B Mk. II heavy bomber. It is not a kit or a model of an aircraft in its own right but an aid for painting: the masks follow the framing of the glazed cockpit and the gun turrets exactly, so you spray sharp and straight frame lines with no lengthy laying down of adhesive tape. Circular masks for the wheel hubs are usually included.
The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engine heavy night bomber of the Second World War and the backbone of the RAF night bombing campaign. The B Mk. II version differs from most Lancasters in its powerplant: instead of V12 Merlin engines it received Bristol Hercules radial engines. Only a limited number were built, which makes this version all the more interesting to modelers.
Carefully lift the masks off the backing film with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press them onto the glazing so that they follow the shape of the frames. The clear areas stay covered and only the frame is left exposed. Spray the paint, ideally with an airbrush in thin coats, and lift the masks off once it is dry. Wipe adhesive residue off with a gently moistened cloth.
The package holds only the cut masks. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
