Replacement wheels with flattened tires for a model of the B-29 Superfortress bomber in the early production pattern, 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The tire of a real aircraft flattens where it bears on the ground under the weight of the machine. Parts in kits, by contrast, tend to be perfectly round, so a model looks as though it hovers a little above the ground. Replacement wheels with flattening take that impression away, and seen from the side the difference shows at once. The set is for the B-29 Superfortress bomber in the early production pattern and is in 1:72 scale.
The B-29 Superfortress is an American four-engined heavy bomber from the end of the Second World War. It was among the most complex aircraft of its day: it had a pressurized cabin, which let the crew work at great altitude, and remotely controlled defensive armament. The early production series differed from the later ones in a number of details, and the pattern of the landing gear wheels is one of them.
The parts are not polystyrene, so they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down carefully, so as not to cut into the shape of the tire. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. When gluing, watch one thing that goes wrong most often: the flattened face has to point toward the ground and all the wheels have to bear in a way that leaves the model standing level. Try the axle dry, therefore, before the glue sets.
The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
