About product

Let L-60 Brigadyr in 1:72 scale, export form

A kit of the Czechoslovak multipurpose aircraft from Kovozavody Prostejov, that is from a Czech maker for whom this type is literally on its own doorstep. The package is the export form; which particular color schemes it contains and how many there are should be checked against the information on the box. In 1:72 scale it comes out as a small, quickly built model — suitable even as a project for one longer evening or as an addition to a diorama with an airfield.

The real subject

The L-60 Brigadyr is a multipurpose high-wing monoplane with fixed landing gear, designed to cope with short grass strips and undemanding operation. It was precisely the combination of good takeoff characteristics, a good view from the high-set wing and a simple structure that opened up a wide range of uses for it: agricultural work, towing gliders, liaison and ambulance flights and dropping parachutists. Besides home service it also reached foreign users, which is exactly what this boxing corresponds to. For the modeler it is a rewarding subject — it has a striking silhouette that you will not confuse with anything else, and in color it tends to be far more varied than military hardware.

Building and painting tips

On a small high-wing monoplane the result is decided by clean work with the thin parts: dry-fit the struts, the landing gear legs and the tail surfaces and glue them with liquid cement drop by drop, not straight from the bottle. Prepare the cockpit with its large glazing before you close the fuselage, and mask the canopy with tape or liquid mask — on an aircraft with glazing this extensive that tells most on the result. Paint over a primer, and with varied schemes work from the lighter color to the darker one. Paint the struts separately and glue them on only after the fuselage has been painted, which saves you masking. Gloss varnish belongs under the decals, and at the end unify the surface with a matte or semi-gloss one.

Who the model is for

  • Anyone interested in Czechoslovak aviation hardware
  • Modelers looking for a smaller project in 1:72 scale
  • Builders of airfield dioramas and scenes with civil operations
  • Collectors of high-wing monoplanes and utility aircraft

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
