A resin set of wheels for the Lockheed C-130H Hercules in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. Replacement wheels with a well-defined tire tread, an accessory for a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a detail accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The resin set replaces the wheels supplied in a plastic kit of the Lockheed C-130H Hercules transport aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is a resin accessory for aircraft models, made by Eduard of Obrnice near Most.
Wheels in injection-molded plastic tend to have the parting line running right across the tread, so it has to be sanded off, and part of the tire tread disappears with it. A resin wheel is cast in one piece, the parting line does not run across the tread and the tread stays sharp. On a large transport aircraft with multi-wheel landing gear that shows — the wheels are clearly visible on a model and their detail is one of the first things you notice. Sets of this kind are also usually cast with a flat spot on the contact surface, so that the model looks as if it really stands on its landing gear; check this property for the particular package on the packaging.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw. If the wheels have a flat spot, watch their rotation when gluing so that the flat sits on the ground. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting; then spray the tire dark gray rather than black, as pure black looks unnatural in a small scale. Mask the rim or paint it separately, and apply a dry patina of dust only at the very end.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The package does not contain the model, paints or glue.
