A standalone sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale from the brand Caracal Models. The designation of the first part means that it is the opening part of a multi-part line of sheets for the same type; the parts that follow are separate items and have different contents. The sheet is added to a plastic model of the Neptune, which the modeler buys separately. The particular machines, the units and the number of schemes you will find given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the sheet and in the instructions.
The Lockheed P2V Neptune is an American land-based patrol and anti-submarine aircraft, developed at the close of the Second World War and first flown in 1945. It has a high-set straight wing, a long fuselage with room for the operators of the sensors and, in later versions, a prominent tail boom with a magnetic anomaly detector as well. A pair of large radial piston engines took care of the power, and later versions added auxiliary jet engines in nacelles under the wing, which were used mainly on take-off and for acceleration over the target. The type saw a long service with American as well as foreign naval aviation and in 1962, as part of the unification of designations, it was redesignated from P2V to P-2.
With large sheets holding a quantity of small pieces it pays to trim the carrier film close to the printing. The less glossy film there is around it, the less its outline is visible once dry, and that holds even on a well-prepared gloss base. Use a fresh scalpel and trim on a soft surface still before soaking, not on a wet decal. With round markings it is enough to circle the outline with a sharp point, and with lettering to cut along straight lines a little way from the letters.
The package contains only a decal sheet. The model, paints and varnishes are not part of it.
