The 1:72 Luftwaffe officers set offers officer figures for airfield scenes in the scale of aircraft models.

The 1:72 Luftwaffe officers set is built for airfield scenes. 1:72 is the most widespread standard for aircraft kits, so these figures will meet an enormous part of what a modeler has in the cabinet.
A model of an aircraft gives the viewer no sense of scale on its own. A figure beside the landing gear supplies it at once and at the same time hints how large the real machine was. Officer figures also carry a story: a briefing before takeoff, a report being handed over, or a simple scene by the tail surface turns a static model into a moment. Airfield scenes are therefore one of the most rewarding ways for aircraft builders to lift a cabinet without extensive terrain.
Keep the blue-gray shade of the air force uniform cool and rather darker, so that it sets itself apart from ground uniforms. A leather coat or jacket takes a light sheen, while the cloth should be left matte; it is exactly that difference which reads well in a small scale. Paint the light elements on the collar and the cap as sparingly as possible, in a single stroke, or they will run. Keep the faces in a muted tone; overlit skin visually enlarges a figure.
Place the figure so that it looks toward the aircraft; the viewer's eye will then follow it to the model itself.
