The line is conceived as a quickly built model with a sensible number of parts, so it also suits modelers who build military vehicles more as a supplement to aircraft or ships. The small scale makes the vehicle an ideal companion for airfield and base scenes, where mobile equipment is needed without great demands on space in a display case.
The M151 was an American light off-road vehicle in the quarter-ton category with all-wheel drive, developed as the successor to the M38 series of jeeps. Unlike its predecessors it had no separate ladder frame but a unibody structure, and it ran on independent suspension on all four wheels. In the army the vehicle was commonly known by the nickname MUTT. The M151A2 version brought a revised rear suspension intended to reduce the tendency to roll over in a sharp maneuver, and more prominent lighting and signaling features. The vehicle served in many roles, from liaison and reconnaissance to a carrier for light weapons, and it stayed in service for long decades with other armies as well.
On an open vehicle the interior is visible, so it pays to paint the seats, the dashboard and the floor before the body is closed up. Leave the tiny parts such as the steering wheel, the mirrors and the brackets on the sprue until you need them, so that they do not get lost. The basic olive shade looks better on a small model when you lighten it slightly toward the upper surfaces and then unify it with a thin wash. Apply dust and mud with pigments on the wheels, the fenders and the lower part of the body, where in reality they settle the most.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
