The set brings four pieces of the Mark 82 aerial bomb fitted with a tail of the BSU-49 series, that is the variant with an inflatable retarding body. These are resin castings that replace or supplement the weapons supplied in plastic kits. The set is intended for 1:72 scale and suits anywhere you want the stores sharper and more legible than an injection mold allows.
The Mark 82 is an American aerial bomb of the nominal five hundred pound weight class from the standardized Mk 80 series. It is used in many configurations that differ precisely in the rear end: from a bare low-drag body through retarding plates to guidance sets. The designation BSU-49 belongs to a tail with an inflatable retarding element whose task is to slow the bomb down after release enough for the machine to leave the area of the explosion safely. Thanks to that, this configuration is typical of releases from low altitude and appears on the tactical aircraft of a number of Western air forces.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a detergent so that they are rid of the remains of the mold release agent, otherwise the paint holds badly. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter with a fine blade and level the area off with sandpaper, ideally with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as plastic cement has no effect on resin. Before painting, lay a base color down, spray the bodies of the bombs separately off the model and seat them on the pylons at the end. A fine wash in the engraved lines and light drybrushing on the edges of the fins will give the ordnance depth.
