A self-adhesive pre-cut mask for the model of the RB-66B Destroyer reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. The BASIC level is the simplest version in the range and covers what matters most, the glazing of the model. The parts are cut to the shape of a specific kit, so nothing has to be trimmed to fit.
In 1:72 scale the canopy frames are about half a millimeter wide. Tape cut by hand to such a width barely holds its shape and spreads as soon as it is pressed down. A machine-cut mask has a precisely guided edge and stays straight even after being pressed down. That is exactly why masking sets are most useful in the smaller scales, where hand work runs into physical limits.
Work with fine-tipped tweezers over a light-colored surface, so that a part that flies off does not disappear. Lift the mask part at its edge with the point of a scalpel, carry it to the glazing and at first only lay it loosely in place. Once you have checked its position against the frame, press the center down and only then the edges. A clean surface is essential; even grease from your fingers can lift such a tiny part. Before spraying, check the corners against the light, as that is where bubbles hide most often.
This is a masking accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
