The set holds precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the F-15I in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory meant for spraying, not parts of the model. The masks are applied to the cockpit glazing and to other areas that are to stay clean after spraying, and once sprayed they are taken off. Aircraft sets of this kind usually include masks for the wheel hubs as well, but the exact contents depend on the particular package. The real subject

The F-15I is the Israeli two-seat strike variant derived from the F-15E. It combines the performance of a fighter with the ability to carry a heavy load for attacks on ground targets and is adapted for long-range operations. The crew consists of a pilot and a weapon systems operator seated behind him. An external hallmark of the strike family is the conformal fuel tanks on the sides of the fuselage, which markedly change the outline of the airframe compared with the pure fighter variants.

How to fit the masks

First degrease the glazing and let it dry. Lift the mask off the backing with a sharp point, place it in position and press it down with a toothpick, above all in the corners and along the frames. In 1:72 scale the cockpit is small, so it pays to work with a magnifier and tweezers with fine points. Spray in thin coats and start with the shade that is to be visible on the frames from the inside. Take the masks off while the paint has not fully cured; wipe any adhesive residue away with a damp cotton swab, never with solvent.
