A photo-etched detail set for a model of the F-15J Eagle fighter in 1:72 scale, the manufacturer's part number SS828.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-15J Eagle is the Japanese license-built version of the American heavy F-15 fighter, introduced with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. Outwardly it keeps the shape of the original machine, with a high-set wing, a pair of vertical tails and a wide fuselage; the differences are mainly in the cockpit equipment and the electronics.
Photo-etched metal parts for a 1:72 model of the F-15J. The enclosed manufacturer's instructions are binding. Besides the assembly order they also tell you which plastic shapes have to be thinned or removed before the metal is glued on so that the part sits down properly.
In 1:72 the photo-etched parts are often only a few millimeters across, so work over a light-colored tray with a raised rim and use fine-tipped tweezers. Separate the parts with a sharp blade and never break them out. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a tiny amount. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer, otherwise the finish will not hold.
The set suits a modeler with experience of fine work who wants to take an F-15J model beyond the contents of the kit. Check in the instructions which 1:72 kit it is developed for. Another item shares the same name; this one carries the manufacturer's part number SS828, so compare the contents of both by their instructions. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
