A photo-etched set for a model of the F-4D Phantom fighter in 1:72 scale. It adds detail to a model that cannot be molded in plastic at this scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4D is one of the versions of the two-seat twin-engine American Phantom fighter, used by the US Air Force. The aircraft was among the machines that shaped air combat in the second half of the 1960s, and modelers come back to it also for the number of color schemes it wore.
Photo-etched parts are made by etching an outline out of thin metal sheet. The thickness of the material comes close to true scale sheet metal, so grilles, instrument panels, belts or controls look incomparably finer once glued on than the same feature made in plastic. Which parts the set contains and where they go are given by the manufacturer in the instructions; there you will also find which kit the set is cut for.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with scissors, or the edge will ripple. Make the bends in a steel bending tool or at least along the edge of a steel ruler, so the line is sharp. They are glued with super glue applied in a really small amount, and on larger parts two-part epoxy glue works well, as it gives time to position them. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray a primer on, otherwise the paint chips off. The instructions sometimes call for sanding away the original plastic detail, so read that step before you start gluing.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
