Colored 3D interior elements for a Me 410 model in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The elements are briefly soaked in lukewarm water and slid off the backing paper; they need no softener.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Me 410 was a German twin-engine aircraft of the Second World War with a two-man crew seated one behind the other under long glazing. That glazing is exactly what makes the cockpit the most watched spot on a finished model: you can see inside along its whole length and bare plastic parts cannot hide there.
The set replaces the colored fittings of the cockpit with printed elements in real relief, with the instruments, placards and highlights printed straight in color. That does away with picking out tiny dials with a brush. The elements are matched to the Italeri kit in 1:72 scale, so on a different kit of the same type expect some adjustment. The exact composition of the set is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The elements are printed on backing decal paper. Cut the part from the sheet, soak it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own: it holds on the gloss varnish you coat the surface with beforehand, and on uneven areas a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they would attack the printed resin. Wash and degrease the surface before applying, settle the element in place and press it down with a cotton swab from the center toward the edges. Push it gently into recesses with a blunt tip. Once dry, the cockpit can be sealed with matte varnish.
The set suits modelers who want the cockpit finished quickly and with legible instruments, and those who struggle to pick out tiny details with a brush in 1:72 scale. The package contains the elements listed; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
