Eduard 1:72 Messerschmitt Bf 109G seat belts

This is a detail accessory by the Czech maker Eduard. It is neither an aircraft model nor a kit: in the box you will find a photo-etched, pre-colored set of seat belts for the cockpit of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G fighter in 1:72 scale. The belts come already printed in color, so there is no laborious painting to do: separate them, shape them and seat them on and around the seat. In a small scale, harness belts are among the details that give the most in return: they catch the eye as soon as you look under an open canopy, and yet an ordinary kit either leaves them out altogether or has them as flat relief.

Use

• Separate the belts from the fret carefully with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface; never tear them out.
• Shape the bends with tweezers or a bending tool; the metal will take a slight sag that gives the belts a natural shape.
• Glue them at points with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or a thin adhesive for photo-etch; a drop on the tip of a toothpick is ideal.
• Seat the belts in the cockpit before the fuselage is closed up and the canopy is fitted.
• The color is applied at the factory; the look can be finished off with a fine wash in the pressings and a matte varnish.
