The set from the Aires brand is a resin accessory for building the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1:72 scale. It replaces selected parts of the kit with castings of markedly finer definition than injection-molded plastic allows in this scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft: the base model has to be bought separately. Before buying, check that the set matches the kit you are building. In 1:72 scale working with resin is more demanding than in larger scales, because the parts are small and fragile.
The Bf 109G-6 was one of the most widespread production versions of the German single-engine Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by the liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12. The characteristic external mark of the G-6 version is the bulged covers over the engine, the so-called Beulen, forced by the space needed for the larger synchronized weapons in the nose. The aircraft was built in enormous numbers and differed in a range of partial modifications, for example in the design of the canopy or the height of the vertical tail surface.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a disc and work over a tray: small parts in this scale get lost easily. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate; on miniature parts apply it with a toothpick, not straight from the bottle. Always try the fit dry, as it is usually necessary to sand out the seat in the plastic. It is painted with an airbrush over a primer, and the details come out after a dark wash.
The add-on set is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
