A detail replacement for the German MG 151 aircraft weapon in 1:72 scale for models of Second World War aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MG 151 is a German aircraft weapon from the Mauser arms works, which during the Second World War found its way into practically all the main Luftwaffe types. It was made in two renditions: in the fifteen millimeter caliber and, as the MG 151/20, in the twenty millimeter caliber, the latter becoming the most widespread airborne barrel armament of the Luftwaffe. The weapon was mounted in the wing, in the wing root, as an engine cannon firing through the propeller axis and in underwing gondolas.
In kits in 1:72 scale the weapon tends to be only suggested in the molding, or is rendered in such a thickness that it looks more like a tube. Against that, the replacement element has sharp edges, a thin barrel and legible shapes of the breech, so it is worth it everywhere the weapon is visible: in an open weapon bay, in a gondola under the wing or when displaying a model with the panels exposed.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest off carefully, so that the thin barrel does not snap. Before painting, wash and degrease the part, otherwise the paint holds only until the first touch. Metal parts look credible in a dark steel shade with fine polishing of the edges; the particular preparation procedure is in the manufacturer's instructions.
For builders of German aircraft in 1:72 scale who want the armament to be sharper at first sight than out of the box. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
