Fujimi JGSDF Staff (Ground) 1:72 is a set of figures of members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in ground poses, intended for completing models of equipment and dioramas in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi brings figures of members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1:72 scale. The addition in the name suggests figures standing on the ground, that is, an operating team and accompanying personnel rather than a crew inside a vehicle. It is not a model of a vehicle nor a kit of equipment, but a set of figures on its own.
Where the figures belong
Standing figures are more versatile in a diorama than a crew in the hatches of a vehicle: you place them beside the equipment, at a deployed position, on a road or in a group. That is exactly why sets of this type are often bought together with models of vehicles and completed with a crew set.
The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force is the ground component of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. It uses its own patterns of camouflage uniforms, helmets and equipment, which differ from the American and European armies in cut and in coloring. In a tableau with Japanese equipment the figures of the matching army therefore cannot be replaced by soldiers from ordinary NATO sets without it being noticed.
Carefully separate the figures from the fret with nippers and only lightly scrape the traces of the sprue nubs with a sharp knife - in this scale detail is easily sanded away. Apply a thin coat of primer so that acrylic holds on the smooth plastic. Paint with contrast: a base shade for the uniform, a dark wash into the folds, a dry brush on the edges and the equipment. Two tones will do for the face, and only suggest the eyes with a shadow. Glue the figures to the model or the base only after the paint and weathering are finished, as it is otherwise hard to work with an airbrush around them.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the model of the vehicle are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
