1:72 Middle East Base is a finished base with Middle Eastern terrain for hardware and figures in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a finished terrain base tuned to the setting of the Middle East. A vehicle or a group of figures in 1:72 is set on it, and the modeler thus gets a scene without having to mix plaster, layer insulation board and wait for the base to dry.
A model built on a bare shelf comes across as a sample; a model on a piece of street tells a story. A finished base moreover keeps to size: it does not tempt you into a scene that outgrows the display case and it leaves the attention with the hardware itself. In a small scale that matters, because one vehicle is small and is easily lost in a sprawling landscape. A finished base has one further advantage: it allows models to be compared with each other, because they all stand on an area of the same size and do not compete for attention by the complexity of their surroundings.
A Middle Eastern scene rests on light-colored dust. Spray the base with a sand-colored ground, go over it from above with a lighter hint of color and let a brown wash into the recesses, so that the relief comes out. A unifying layer of dust pigment on the underside of the vehicle and on the terrain will then link both parts, and the scene will stop looking like a model laid on a board.
