An accessory set from the Quickboost line made by the Czech producer Aires. It is not a model of the aircraft but a replacement for the landing gear bay doors. The plastic parts from a kit tend to be disproportionately thick in a small scale and their inner face stays smooth, even though it is clearly visible on a finished model with the gear down. The castings have a realistic thickness as well as inner stiffeners, so the underside of the model reads far more convincingly.
The MiG-21MF was a single-engine fighter with a delta wing and one of the most widespread versions of the whole MiG-21 family. It came about in the 1970s as a multirole form with a more powerful engine, a built-in cannon and the ability to carry guided missiles as well as unguided armament. The aircraft was produced and operated in large numbers by a number of states including Czechoslovakia, where it was one of the mainstays of the fighter force. Characteristic of it is the slender nose with a circular air intake and a movable shock cone that regulated the airflow at higher speeds.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the thin doors off the casting block carefully with a fine saw or a new scalpel, so that they do not crack, and level the edges with abrasive paper used wet. Remove the original plastic doors and clean the openings of the bays up. They are glued with super glue in the smallest possible amount. Paint the doors separately from the fuselage, so that the paint reaches the inner face as well; the inner stiffeners can be pulled out with a dark wash and a fine dry brush.
This is an accessory set, not a complete model. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled; the paints, the glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
