This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings a faithfully cast ejection seat with suggested seat belts for a model of the Soviet Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the coarser plastic seat with a crisp casting.
The MiG-29 was a Soviet twin-engine fourth-generation fighter meant to win air superiority over the battlefield. It catches the eye with its aerodynamically clean, blended fuselage and its prominent twin vertical tails. The cockpit with a modern zero-zero class ejection seat is among the clearly visible places on a model, and its accuracy raises the overall impression.
First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting block with a saw and sand the cut surface with respiratory protection. Bond the seat with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Bring out the cast belts with shades and a wash; test the fit dry before closing the cockpit.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
