A resin set of replacement landing gear wheels for a 1:72 model of the MiG-21 fighter. This is not an airplane kit but an accessory for a model you already own. The manufacturer intends the set for the late type of wheel, that is for the versions with the heavier landing gear; the early aircraft have separate castings from the manufacturer. The tires are cast as weighted, with a flattened contact patch. Check the contents of the set on the box.
The MiG-21 was built for decades and gradually put on a great deal of weight, gaining a more powerful engine, more fuel and heavier armament. The landing gear changed with it: the later versions carried differently shaped rims and tires rated for a higher load. These were the aircraft that made up the bulk of production and served with dozens of air arms around the world, Czechoslovakia among them, where the MiG-21 was also built under license. For the modeler that means an early wheel is simply not correct on a late version.
For builders of the later MiG-21 versions who want the correct type of wheel, and for anyone bothered by a perfectly round plastic tire on a model. Resin calls for super glue and careful preparation of the parts.
