Space is a line from the Czech maker Eduard built on colored 3D decals with three-dimensional relief. It is not a kit but an accessory that gives the cockpit depth and color without laborious painting of tiny instruments. This sheet is prepared for the photo-reconnaissance version of the Mosquito PR Mk.XVI in 1:72 scale. Because Eduard offers Space sets for the same aircraft in several versions according to the base kit, the distinguishing detail of this item is the target kit: the set is cut for kits from Special Hobby.
The de Havilland Mosquito was a twin-engined aircraft of mixed, largely wooden construction that was built in many specialized versions. The PR Mk.XVI was the photo-reconnaissance variant with a pressurized cabin and engines with a two-stage supercharger, intended for flights at great altitude. Reconnaissance Mosquitoes flew without defensive armament and relied on speed and ceiling. On models in small scales the cockpit is only partly visible, but it comes into its own with the entry hatch open.
First spray the cockpit parts with the base interior color and give them a gloss clear coat - on a smooth surface the decal does not silver. Do not immerse the decal in water: moisten only the backing paper under it, lift it off with tweezers and settle it into a drop of PVA glue (white glue), then blot up the excess moisture with a cloth. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they would attack the printed resin and ruin the relief decal. In 1:72 scale work with smooth-jawed tweezers so that the carrier film does not crease. Blend the finished interior with a matte clear coat and pick out the recesses with a fine wash.
