The MQ-9 was created as a considerably larger and more powerful successor to the first armed unmanned aircraft. Instead of a piston engine it got a turboprop, thanks to which it climbs higher, carries more and stays in the air for something like twenty hours. Even a layman can tell it by the tail surfaces angled upwards into a V and by the slender wing of great span.
The last entry stands out most. This aircraft never carried weapons; it served for remote imaging of forest fires and for trials of controlling unmanned aircraft in civilian airspace. Its finish is therefore light and without military markings, which makes it the most conspicuous piece of the whole eight in a display case.
An unmanned aircraft has a smooth fuselage with no canopy, so decals have nothing to hide behind on it - every shift or whitened edge is visible. A glossy surface and working piece by piece therefore pay off. The model is bought separately; the sheet holds decals only.
