1:72 Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa Control Surfaces is a masking set for the control surfaces and flaps that gives a model the impression of deflected surfaces without a single cut into the plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains templates through which a fine shadow is sprayed along the outline of the moving surfaces. The model thereby gains the impression that the surfaces are separate and slightly offset, although the parts stay just as they were glued. This is work with paint, not a modification of the structure. The set is cut for 1:72 scale.
The Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa was the second main production version of the Japanese army fighter, revised against the first version in its powerplant and in the structure of the wing. The type was known for its agility and its low wing loading.
The effect rests on the fact that the eye compares the two halves of the model. When the shadow is wider or more intense on one wing, the model looks crooked and the illusion falls apart. Work in pairs, therefore: the same shade, the same distance of the gun, the same number of passes on both sides. Take the templates off before the final adjustment of the sheen, so that the shadow receives it together with the surrounding surface and does not stand out anywhere.
