A sheet of decals in 1:72 scale with markings from Nicaragua: for the hardware of the National Guard as well as for the machines of the Sandinista insurgents.
Responsibility details are not available.
Nicaragua is among the battlefields that appear in modeling display cabinets only rarely, and yet it offers an interesting subject. Two sides stood against each other here: the Guardia Nacional, that is the Nicaraguan armed corps, and the Sandinista insurgent movement, which procured part of its hardware from the opponent. Markings are therefore a rewarding theme, because the same type of machine could look quite different according to its membership.
This set of markings covers both sides. The designs are printed for 1:72 scale and intended for models of armored and wheeled hardware. Which particular machines and what placement of the designs the set assumes is given by the instructions enclosed with the sheet.
These are wet decals. Trim the design off tight to the print, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest until it begins to slide freely over the backing paper. Varnish the area to a gloss beforehand; on a matte base air settles under the film and a white veil arises around the design. On a busy surface a softener helps; the finished model is evened out with a matte varnish.
The sheet will be used by modelers who are looking for an unusual theme and want to build hardware from a Latin American setting instead of another European variant. The sheet of decals is supplied on its own; the model, the paints and the glue do not belong with it, unless stated otherwise.
