An edge beaver-tail roof tile in 1:72 scale is a scenic accessory for building roofs in a diorama. It trims the edge of a roof area where an ordinary tile is not enough.
Responsibility details are not available.
The beaver-tail tile is a classic fired tile with a rounded lower edge, typical of central European buildings from the 19th century to the present day. This item is its edge counterpart, that is an element meant for the edge of a roof area where the tiling is terminated. It is not a kit of a building: you are buying an accessory with which a roof built or reworked by hand in a diorama is brought to a believable form.
A roof is the most visible part of a diorama and at the same time the one where improvisation shows most easily. A regular pattern of tiles with a correctly handled edge moves the look of a building up a class, whether you are building a village homestead, a town house or a farm building. Edge tiles make sense above all paired with ordinary area tiling, which they trim along the edges and at the gables.
First lay the ground of the roof out in pencil row by row, so that the tiling does not run away sideways. Glue the parts from the bottom row upward with a slight overlap; with small accessories cyanoacrylate glue works well. Start the painting with a darker base, and once dry go over it with a dry brush in brick and gray, so that the relief of the individual tiles comes out. Break the shades up between the tiles, because a real roof never has one color. Apply moss and dirt only in the valleys and at the gutter, as weathering over the whole area looks unconvincing in a small scale.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as a part for a diorama. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
