Quickboost 1:72 P-38 Lightning Correct Engine Covers is a resin set with the correct shape of the engine covers for a model of the American twin-boom Lightning fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set from the Quickboost brand, made by the Czech manufacturer Aires, brings engine covers in a faithful shape for a model of the American twin-engine fighter Lockheed P-38 Lightning in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, which corrects or replaces the inaccurately shaped plastic covers over the powerplants.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter of the Second World War with an unmistakable twin-boom layout and a central nacelle for the pilot. It was powered by two liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V12 engines with turbochargers, housed in the two booms. The Lightning proved itself in the fighter, reconnaissance and attack roles, above all in the Pacific.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with your airways protected. Bond the covers with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement, and keep an eye on the symmetry of the two booms. Expect a little filling at the transitions; try the fit dry before painting.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
