A precisely cast turbocharger cover for building the American Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a resin accessory that replaces the part from the plastic kit with a more faithful shape and finer detail. It is made by Quickboost, a brand belonging to the Aires company.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter of the Second World War with a characteristic twin-boom layout. Its Allison engines were fed by turbochargers mounted on top of the booms, which gave the machines their performance at high altitude. The turbocharger cover is therefore a prominent recognition feature.
Wash the resin casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting block and clean up the surface, then bond the part with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A dark wash and a light touch of a metallic shade will bring out the metal surfaces. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
