An injection-molded plastic kit of the twin-engined Lockheed P-38J Lightning fighter in 1:72 scale from Italeri. In the box you will find plastic molded in gray, clear parts for the cockpit and a sheet of waterslide decals for four color options. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The P-38 Lightning was an exceptional American fighter with its characteristic twin-boom layout and a central nacelle for the pilot. It was powered by a pair of Allison V-1710 engines with turbochargers, which gave it a high ceiling and long range. The J version brought reworked cooling with the characteristic intakes under the engines and a greater fuel load. The Lightning proved itself as a long-range escort fighter, a hunter and a photo-reconnaissance machine, and became famous above all in the Pacific theater.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin modeling cement for plastic. Apply a filler primer before painting; it unifies the surface and shows up any flaws. The metal surfaces of the Lightning come into their own with an airbrush and shades of the polished aluminum type, and the clear cockpit parts are best glued with a cement that does not fog transparent surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
