A photo-etched metal set in 1:72 scale for a model of the P-39Q Airacobra fighter. It adds the elements to a model that are necessarily thicker in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra is an American fighter with an unusual design. The Allison V-1710 engine, that is, a V12, sits behind the cockpit and drives the propeller through a long shaft run under the pilot's floor. The freed nose received a nosewheel undercarriage and room for a heavy weapon firing through the propeller hub. The cockpit is not entered through a sliding canopy but through side doors as in a car. The Q version, the most numerous of all, carries 12.7 mm machine guns in pods under the wing. A large part of the production went to the Soviet Union.
Photo-etched sheet has a thickness in tenths of a millimeter, so it can stand in for the parts that plastic will never make thin enough at this scale: seat belts, the instrument panel, mesh screens, covers and small fittings. On a model it shows mainly in the cockpit and in the places that are visible. The extent of the set and the P-39 kit in 1:72 scale that it is matched to are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, as scissors will wave thin sheet. Make the bend along the marked score line in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades. They are bonded with super glue or an epoxy, as cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a base coat for metal. It is good to curve the seat belts slightly after bending, so that they look like cloth rather than sheet metal.
The model, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
