An injection-molded plastic kit of the early version of the American Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk fighter in 1:72 scale from Academy. The model captures the slim machine with its long nose housing a V12 engine and the lighter armament typical of the first P-40 versions, with engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and clear canopy parts. Check the exact contents and markings against your particular edition.
The P-40B was one of the first production versions of the P-40 family. It was powered by the liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V12 engine and armed with a pair of heavy machine guns in the nose and lighter machine guns in the wings, which is what sets it apart from the later, more heavily armed P-40E version. It became famous above all with the American Volunteer Group, the Flying Tigers, in China and in Royal Air Force service under the name Tomahawk in North Africa.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, fill the gaps and sand them down. Paint the cockpit interior before closing up the fuselage. Apply a gloss coat before the decals; complement the striking shark mouth scheme with a wash in the panel lines and fine wear applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
