Armycast 1:72 P-47D — control surfaces is a resin set of control surfaces for models of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter. An accessory for a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set from Armycast that replaces the control surfaces of a model of the American Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter. The cast rudder, elevators and flaps can be fitted deflected, which gives a model on a stand a sense of movement and at the same time offers a more faithful surface than an injection mold allows. The package is not an aircraft kit.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was one of the heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a large radial engine with a turbocharger housed in the rear fuselage and the machine became famous mainly as a tough fighter bomber with a large capacity for external armament. The control surfaces of the P-47 were fabric-covered with a pronounced ribbed structure; it is clearly visible on the real aircraft and on a model it is exactly what decides whether the surface looks convincing.
Cut the original surfaces off the kit with a saw and level the cut with a file, and only then try a dry fit of the resin parts. Keep the deflection restrained and, above all, logical — the rudder and the elevators should match the position the aircraft would have on the ground. Spray the whole area with a base coat before painting; the fabric covering comes out beautifully if, once it is painted, you apply a very fine dark wash and wipe the excess away along the ribs.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
