Eduard 1:72 P-47D resin wheels

A detail set from the manufacturer Eduard intended for models of the P-47D Thunderbolt fighter in 1:72 scale. It contains the main wheels and the tailwheel cast in resin, seven parts in all, and in addition a painting mask for separating the tire from the rim. The manufacturer conceived the set as a replacement for the plastic parts from the Tamiya kit. The gain is obvious at first glance: a finer tire tread, a more crisply rendered rim and cleaner detail than can be done in injected plastic at this scale. And a wheel is one of the most closely looked-at details on the landing gear of a model. Note: this is NOT an aircraft model. The P-47D kit is not included in the package: you buy the set as an accessory to a kit you already have.

Use

• Separate the parts carefully from the casting blocks; never break them off, use a photo-etch saw or a cutter.
• Sand the remains of the block down; wet-sand and protect your airways, as resin dust must not be inhaled.
• Wash the finished parts in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent residue disappears, or the paint will not hold.
• Bond resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate); ordinary cement for plastic does not work on it.
• Use the enclosed mask: spray the rim, mask it off and add the tire, and the edge will come out crisp.
• Check before buying which P-47D kit the wheels fit; the manufacturer developed them for a specific kit.

Who the set is for

For modelers who want to get the most out of their P-47D in 1:72 scale and are not satisfied with the production plastic wheels. Working with resin assumes some basic experience of sanding, super glue and safe handling of resin dust, so the set is recommended rather for more advanced modelers. The amount of work is small, though: it is a quick improvement with a big visual effect.

An accessory to a model, not a model. The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package. When sanding resin, work wet, use a respirator and ventilate; super glue irritates the eyes and airways and bonds skin instantly.
