1:72 P-51D Mustang — Exhaust Stacks with Fairing (PRINT) from Eduard is a 3D-printed replacement part for the Eduard P-51D kit in 1:72 scale. This is not a kit — you must already have the aircraft model.

This set replaces the plastic exhaust tubes on a model of the P-51D Mustang in 1:72 scale with a pair of parts made by direct 3D printing in resin. This is not an aircraft kit — it is an accessory that only makes sense once you already have a P-51D model. The exhausts are among the most visible spots on the Mustang's fuselage, since they sit right under the engine cowling and have a deep, open outlet that injection-molded plastic can practically never imitate.
According to the manufacturer, the set is made for the Eduard P-51D kit in 1:72 scale. It may not fit models from other brands or a different scale. Also watch out for the Mustang version: the P-51D with a bubble canopy and the P-51B/C with a framed canopy (the razorback) are different aircraft, and parts between them are not interchangeable — do not use the P-51D set on a B/C.
Mustangs flew with exhausts covered by an aerodynamic fairing and with exhausts bare, with no fairing. There was no single universal look — fairings were fitted and removed in service. Before fitting the set, check a period photo or a profile of the specific aircraft you are building. This set represents the version with a fairing.
PRINT means the parts are not cast or injection-molded, but directly printed by 3D printing in resin. In practice this brings two things: sharpness of detail that casting cannot achieve (thin walls, cleanly open tube outlets, sharp edges), and minimal cleanup — the parts are held on thin supports, not in a massive casting block, so they separate easily.
Resin does not respond to polystyrene cement — glue with cyanoacrylate (super glue) or two-part epoxy. Wash the parts before painting and apply a primer, or the paint will hold worse. Resin dust is a health hazard — sand and cut wet, do not inhale it, and work in a ventilated area. The exhaust outlets come to life nicely with a dark soot color and a light rub of a metallic shade along the edges.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
