1:72 Paint mask Yak-1 is a single-sided masking set for the model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-1 fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item is an aid that makes painting easier, not an aircraft kit. It covers the glazing and selected areas so that no paint stays on them after spraying and the frames come out straight. A double-sided counterpart of the same cut also exists in the line, so check from the name which of the two variants it is.
The Yak-1 was a Soviet single-seat fighter introduced shortly before the fighting on the Eastern Front broke out. It was built with mixed construction, in which wood was combined with a metal tube framework, which saved materials that were in short supply. A numerous family of follow-on machines came from this type and became the backbone of Soviet fighter aviation.
Let the degreased surface dry thoroughly and only then seat the individual parts on it. Press the corners down with a blunt point so that no deposit gets under them. Spray perpendicular and in thin coats. Uncover at the moment when the surface stops being tacky; on a long-cured finish there is a risk of tearing the edge off along with part of the paint. The rest of the glazing then only needs polishing with a soft cloth.
