A wooden deck 1:700 USS Indianapolis CA-35 is an accessory to a ship kit: a self-adhesive veneer with the laying of the planks printed on it, which will replace the plastic deck part.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit of the ship. A wooden veneer with a self-adhesive underside carries the printed laying of the deck planks and is glued onto the deck of a plastic model. Replacing plastic with wood is on ship models one of the few accessories whose effect is visible even from an ordinary viewing distance: wood has a pattern of its own and reflects light differently from sprayed paint.
The USS Indianapolis CA-35 was an American heavy cruiser of the Portland class. It was a ship with an elongated hull and an extensive forward deck ahead of the superstructure, so a wooden deck comes into play on the model over a large continuous area.
Count on small trimming being needed even with a well fitting veneer, as the tolerances of plastic parts differ between individual items. Do not remove the overhangs with a file or sandpaper, as those would fray the veneer and pull the fibers out. Use a new scalpel blade guided perpendicular to the edge of the plastic, which serves as a guide. Cut with several light passes, not with one heavy one. Remove the offcuts with tweezers and check that no peeled corner has stayed under the edge, which would lift later.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The ship kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
