A set of turned metal parts that replace the plastic sensors on the nose of a Panavia Tornado model in 1:72 scale. This is not an aircraft kit, but an accessory for one. In this small scale, these plastic parts are barely thicker than a hair, so they already come out with an imperfect shape and often snap off during seam cleanup. Turned metal holds a straight axis and a precise diameter along its full length.
The Panavia Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with variable-geometry wings, developed by a European consortium of British, German and Italian manufacturers. It was built in several versions differing in role, including strike and fighter variants; service began in the late 1970s. The nose sections of the individual versions differ, so we recommend comparing the shape of the parts against your kit before buying.
Coaxial alignment is essential: the metal part must sit perpendicular to the surfaces it relates to, or the eye will notice immediately. Mark the hole first with the point of a needle so the drill bit does not wander, and drill by hand. Before reaching for glue, dry-fit the part several times and check the model from both sides and from above. The metal surface is smooth and paint will not hold on it without a primer — either use a primer made for metal, or leave the part in bare metal and just darken it. When dusting off the finished model, do not brush against the direction of the probes.
This is an accessory for modelers. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
