About product

Eduard 1:72 PBY-5 Catalina

A set of precisely shaped spray masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for models of the American long-range flying boat Consolidated PBY-5 Catalina in 1:72 scale. The masks are die-cut from yellow kabuki (washi) tape, which precisely follows the numerous glazing frames of this aircraft and leaves no adhesive residue once removed. This is not a paint or a kit, but an aid that saves a great deal of time on the Catalina's extensive glazing.

Use

  • The masks are peeled from the sheet and applied precisely onto the cockpit and side observation blister frames.
  • The interior glazed areas are covered with tape or masking fluid, and the frame color is then sprayed.
  • The set usually also includes masks for the wheel hubs for a clean transition.
  • Once the paint dries, the masks are carefully removed, revealing sharp, straight edges.

Who it is for

Catalina modelers in particular will appreciate this accessory, since its detailed glazing and observation blisters are very laborious to mask by hand.

The masks are neither paint nor a model; the kit itself and paints are not included in the package.
