An injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat PZL P.11 high-wing fighter in the F version, that is, the license variant built in Romania by IAR. 1:72 scale, made by IBG models. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The exact number of parts, the number of decal options and any photo-etched parts are stated on the packaging of the kit.
The P.11 is an all-metal high-wing machine with a characteristic cranked, so-called gull wing, fixed landing gear with spatted wheels and a radial engine in the front of the fuselage. The arrangement of the wing set above the fuselage and cranked down toward the root was meant to improve the pilot's view upward and forward. The design came about in the first half of the 1930s and belonged to the generation of fighters that was soon replaced by faster low-wing machines with retractable landing gear. The F version is the license configuration supplied to the Romanian Air Force, and it differs from the original variant above all in its powerplant and in small points of equipment.
The most sensitive part of the build is the strut arrangement of the wing and the landing gear — glue the struts only once the main joints have dried and keep checking the symmetry against a template or by looking from the front. Let thin modeling cement for plastic run into the seam by capillary action, sand the seams on the fuselage with fine paper and re-scribe the engraved lines. Lay down a primer before painting and finish the cockpit and the interior before you close the fuselage. The corrugated surface of the skinning, typical of this design, deserves an airbrush and fine shading of the panels; spray a gloss varnish before the decals and, once they have dried, even the surface out with a flat one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
