Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Romanian IAR.80 fighter in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer IBG Models. The 2 in 1 box allows you to build either the early IAR.80 version or the later IAR.80A, for which it contains different wing parts. A generous decal sheet with a number of schemes for machines used in 1941 is included.
The IAR.80 was a home-grown Romanian single-seat fighter, an all-metal machine that was modern for its day, with a radial engine and retractable landing gear. It was created at the IAR works (Industria Aeronautica Romana) in Brasov and became the pride of the Romanian Air Force. It was committed from the start of Operation Barbarossa in 1941, when Romania attacked the Soviet Union alongside Germany. The IAR.80A version received heavier armament among other changes. The machine was a match for a number of contemporary opponents and served through much of the war.
In 1:72 scale, bring out above all the cockpit and the fine surface - highlight the instrument panel and the belts with a wash. Glue the glazing in place and mask it. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, even out the surface with primer and apply the paint with an airbrush. A multi-shade upper camouflage and a light underside are typical of Romanian schemes; take care over the correct placement of the national markings including the yellow Eastern Front bands. Weathering and exhaust staining are finished off with a gentle wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
