Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-2 model 1940 heavy assault tank in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The set contains parts in gray plastic, one-piece vinyl tracks and a decal sheet. The dominant feature of the model is the tall slab-sided turret with its massive howitzer, which gives the vehicle an unmistakable silhouette.
The KV-2 was developed on the chassis of the KV-1 heavy tank as a heavy assault machine armed with a 152 mm howitzer. Because of the large, heavy turret the KV-2 was slower and had a markedly higher profile than the KV-1. It was committed in the opening phase of the fighting on the Eastern Front, where its thick armor and devastating fire caused the enemy considerable trouble, even though it was cumbersome and hard to handle.
Assemble and paint the running gear before closing the hull. Join the vinyl tracks with cyanoacrylate glue. Because of the large flat surfaces of the turret it pays to lay down the primer and the base green shade evenly with an airbrush. Build the weathering with washes into the recesses and joints of the big turret and with pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear; light shading will lift the large vertical surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
