Injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat Su-27 fighter, NATO code name Flanker B, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The box contains plastic sprues, clear cockpit parts, external stores and a set of waterslide decals for two marking options. Given the size of the real subject, even in this scale it is a fairly large and striking model.
The Su-27 is a Soviet and later Russian twin-engine fighter intended to win air superiority. It entered service in the middle of the 1980s and became famous for its great agility, long range and ability to carry heavy air-to-air armament. Its characteristic features are the integrated aerodynamic layout of the fuselage and wings and the pair of engines in markedly separated nacelles. The type has served and still serves with a number of countries and became the basis for a whole family of further versions. The Flanker B corresponds to the basic production single-seat fighter.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and finish the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. We recommend a primer and an airbrush. The Su-27 typically wore blue-gray camouflage schemes with a white base on the lower surfaces; an airbrush handles the transitions between shades best. Pick the panel lines out with a fine wash, and the metal engine nozzles with metal and burnt metal shades. Fit the pylons with the external stores and missiles according to the scheme you choose.
