Turned metal pitot tubes for a model of the SAAB 29 Tunnan in 1:72 scale from MASTER. A metal replacement for thin plastic probes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a metal accessory for a plastic kit, not a model of the aircraft. The set contains turned pitot tubes in 1:72 scale for the Swedish SAAB 29 jet. A metal part solves two things at once: it has a correctly thin wall, which a plastic mold cannot manage at this scale, and at the same time it is strong, so once glued on it will survive ordinary handling of the model.
The SAAB 29 was a Swedish single-engine jet with a swept wing, taken into service at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. Its bulky fuselage earned it a nickname at home derived from a barrel, Tunnan. It was one of the first European production jet types with a swept wing and served in the Swedish Air Force in several versions for many years.
This kind of part is an ideal candidate for a finish without paint. The brass only needs degreasing, a short dip in a blackening solution and drying - you get an even dark metal that will not hide the sharp edges and will never flake. If you want to match the probes in color to the fuselage, use a primer for metal and spray the thinnest possible coats. Drill the hole in the plastic in several steps and keep checking how deep the pin seats; unlike plastic, a metal part cannot be shortened by snapping it off, it has to be cut.
This is an accessory for modelers. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
