Responsibility details are not available.
This set belongs to the Napoleonic part of the historical line of Strelets-R. It contains figures of the cavalry guard of the Saxon army in 1:72 scale, supplied unpainted in soft plastic. The set serves as an addition to a scene, not as a kit, and combines well with other Napoleonic figures and with period artillery in the same scale.
Garde du Corps was the designation for an elite cavalry guard unit of the kind maintained by several German states including Saxony. It was heavy cavalry intended for decisive blows on the battlefield, armed with a broadsword and supplementary pistols. Saxon units fought in the Napoleonic wars on both sides of the conflict depending on how the political situation changed, and their cavalry was among the visible components of the corps. For a modeler the main feature of this unit is the light uniform color supplemented with contrasting facings and metal elements of equipment.
Light uniforms are the main theme of this set and its main pitfall alike. White cannot be applied all at once, otherwise it fills the relief and looks flat. Proceed from a grayish or beige base to an off-white applied in two to three thin layers and leave the shadow in the vertical folds. Before painting, remove the burrs from the figures, wash them and let them dry, then apply a thin primer suitable for soft plastic. Seat the riders in the saddle only after painting, so that the inner side of the legs and the flanks of the horse can be painted too. The metal parts of the broadswords and the helmets come out with a dark base and discreet polishing of the edges, as excessive gloss looks unnatural in a small scale.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
