An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-based dive bomber Curtiss SB2C-4 Helldiver from Academy in 1:72 scale, in the special Operation Iceberg edition with markings of aircraft from the fighting for Okinawa. The kit allows the wings to be folded into the carrier stowage position. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents of the box follow the enclosed instructions.
The SB2C Helldiver was the main carrier-based dive bomber of the US Navy in the closing stage of the Second World War. It replaced the older Dauntless and was notable for wings that folded for stowage aboard carriers, an internal bomb bay and airbrakes for a steep diving attack. It was used in the Pacific battles against Japanese ships and against land targets, and it stayed in service into the postwar years.
Finish the cockpit and the bomb bay before you close the fuselage. Decide whether you will build the wings spread or folded into the carrier stowage position, because it affects the order of gluing. Mask the long canopy glazing and paint it separately. The dark navy blue will come alive with a panel line wash, with fading of the upper surfaces and with discreet traces of deck service; fit the landing gear and the armament last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
