A photo-etched set of parts for a model of the SBD Dauntless carrier-borne dive bomber in 1:72 scale. An accessory to a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless is an American carrier-borne dive bomber of the Second World War. The recognition feature of the machine is the perforated dive brakes on the wing, which kept its speed within reasonable limits during a dive. It flew both from the decks of carriers and from land bases.
Photo-etched parts for a model of the SBD Dauntless in 1:72 scale. They are supplied on an etched fret from which the individual parts are separated. Etched sheet is thin, so small shapes come out sharper than injection-molded plastic can manage. The actual list of parts, their position and any modifications to the kit are given in the manufacturer's instructions, which are therefore worth going through before the build begins.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with cutters, or they will bend. Sand the remains of the tab down with a fine file after separating. Bend them over a straight edge or in a photo-etch bending tool, so that the fold comes out sharp and in the right place. They are glued with super glue applied in a tiny amount, for instance on the tip of a wire. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and use a primer suitable for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
